Monterey was one of the most striking stallions at the 2018 Oldenburg stallion licensing in Vechta.Impressive in the arena, Monterey was revered with regard to his bloodlines and named Premiumstallion, receiving cheers from the crowd. He is very rideable with a lot of charm and confidence,immaculate in his foundation and demonstrates amazing gaits. His sire, Morricone, was theOldenburg Champion Stallion in 2014 and secured victory for the Oldenburg Main Premium in2016. He won his stallion performance test and qualified for the German Championships withvictories in competitions for young dressage horses. His dam, Special Diva, was German Championin 2014 and won many dressage competitions at novice (A) and elementary (L) level. Montereyis half-brother to Total Diamond PS, owned by Helgstrand Dressage. Monterey’s granddam, DieMinelli, has also produced stallions: Brillant (by Bretton Woods) was champion stallion of theMecklenburg Licensing Days in 2014 and Decor Siebenstein (by Sir Donnerhall I)–selling for over €500,000 at the P.S.I. auction in 2011–was victorious in Intermediare Il in the Netherlands. Fürst Diamond, by Fürst Romancier, was successful in the international small tour. His great grandsire, Diamond Hit, competed in international Grand Prix competitions with Emma Hindle (GBR) and produced more than 70 licensed stallions and 160 Premium mares. Monterey’s first foal crops in
the U.S. have been a huge success, producing extremely typey, top moving, correct foals with very good temperaments.
Monterey's son, "Monaco", was named Best Young Horse at numerous shows in 2025 topping of his year with Reserve Best Young Horse at the 2025 Sally Wheeler.
Also making a strong impression, "Mockingjay" a yearling by Monterey has won Best Young Horse at 3 out of 4 of his first shows in so far in 2026. He certainly is one to watch.
